Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018), Galaxy A8+ (2018) coming soon to India

The online retailer Amazon India has posted a teaser that makes us believe that the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) will be launched in India soon. The landing page does not reveal anything regarding the exact launch date or pricing of these smartphones. But we can expect them to be priced in the mid-range market as these are launched in that category.

Samsung announced these smartphones in the mid-range market segment, but the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) appear to feature premium specifications just like what we saw on the existing Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship models. There is a glass back and metal frame on these smartphones and the IP68 certification for dust and water resistance as well. In addition to these, the two new smartphones are the first ones to feature dual cameras at the front making them the selfie-centric devices launched by Samsung.

The Galaxy A8 (2018) duo sports the 18.5:9 aspect ratio Infinity Display panel that the flagship smartphones of 2017 including the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 came with. To refresh the specs, the Galaxy A8 (2018) sports a 5.6-inch FHD+ 2160 x 1080 pixel display while the larger variant - the Galaxy A8+ (2018) comes with a bigger 6-inch display with a similar FHD+ 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. Both are Super AMOLED panels that we have seen on the previous generation Samsung smartphones.

The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) are powered by the company's Exynos 7885 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage space that can be further expanded using a microSD card. Apart from the screen size, the battery capacity also sets these phones different. The battery capacity of the Galaxy A8 is 3000mAh while that of the Galaxy A8+ is 3500mAh.

On the imaging front, the Galaxy A8 smartphone duo has a 16MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and digital image stabilization. Up front, there is a dual camera setup with 16MP and 8MP camera sensors with f/1.9 aperture and Live Focus for the bokeh effect. Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) features 4G VoLTE, a USB Type-C port, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
