Samsung Galaxy S23 FE: Will they or Won't they?
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE launch story is one which involves numerous "will they, won't they" moments. As per the latest update, it has been reported that Samsung Galaxy S23 will indeed be launched by the end of the year.
For the unversed, Samsung skipped the Fan Edition (FE) on its S series of smartphones ever since the S21 FE didn't do well in the midst of the pandemic. The company skipped the Galaxy S22 FE entirely, and for the past couple of months, we've been receiving conflicting reports about whether Samsung is planning to launch the S23 FE.
The report by SamMobile claims that the S23 FE will launch sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. What's more, the report also claims that the device will come with a surprise gift.
The report also adds that the S23 FE could be powered by an Exynos 2200 chipset in all of its markets, including the US.
This is quite surprising in itself as Samsung had switched to the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset for its standard S23 handset. The Galaxy S22 series launched in Europe featured an Exynos 2200 chipset and faced quite a bit of criticism regarding its performance.
Furthermore, the Galaxy S series of smartphones launched in the US usually feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, whereas the Exynos chipset is usually reserved for the rest of the countries.
So it remains to be seen how Samsung is planning to go ahead with this new chipset across all markets. It is quite possible that Samsung has taken care of the issues that arose for the S22, given that it has been some time since the device launched.
The Galaxy S23 FE is also said to get a camera upgrade with a rear camera of 50MP. However, this is only in contrast to the S20 FE and the S21 FE, both of which came with a 12MP primary camera. The S23 FE continues the tradition of previous FE models to feature the same sensor as the standard editions, which in this case, is the S23 which comes with a 50MP rear camera.
The Fan edition will also have two variants of memory and storage space: 128/256GB and 6/8GB of RAM. The smartphone is also said to be powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charge capabilities.
The report further adds that the S23 FE will come with the model number SM-S711x which indicates that the series will be high-end but doesn't fully fall under the flagship category.
