Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra, the latest addition to its renowned S-series Ultra lineup, was unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17, alongside the vanilla Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+.

Packed with cutting-edge features and advancements (mostly related to AI), the S24 Ultra maintains the legacy of its predecessors while introducing several noteworthy upgrades.

Build & Design: Samsung Makes the Jump to Titanium

Visually, the S24 Ultra retains familiarity with the S23 Ultra but comes with substantial improvements. The frame now boasts a titanium alloy, a significant shift from aluminum. This choice enhances durability and scratch resistance without increasing weight, actually making the Galaxy S24 Ultra a gram lighter than its predecessor.

The device is also slightly thinner and shorter, thanks to slimmer bezels. The adoption of Gorilla Glass Armor on both front and rear surfaces further enhances durability, making it four times tougher to crack and 75% less reflective.

Display: It's All Flat

The Galaxy S24 Ultra's key feature is its 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which offers a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. A notable enhancement is the flat display, which replaces the curved screen of the S23 Ultra, a decision that has been welcomed by fans of glass screen protectors. The brightness has been significantly increased to 2,600 nits, and it is complemented by an enhanced Vision Booster for an unparalleled viewing experience.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Under the Hood

Equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is capable of a wide range of AI-powered features, including Live Translate, Interpreter, and Chat Assist for real-time voice and text translation. These AI capabilities extend to Android Auto, summarizing incoming messages and suggesting replies, adding a layer of convenience to everyday use.

Enhancing Photography with AI

The camera system consists of a quad rear camera module, which includes a 200MP wide-angle camera, a new 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with a 3x optical zoom capability and 30x digital zoom.

AI plays a vital role in the ProVisual Engine, which provides tools such as Generative Edit for object removal and Instant Slow-mo for smooth video moments. Nightography benefits from enhanced optical image stabilization, demonstrating Samsung's commitment to AI-powered photography advancements.

Battery, Storage, and Software Support

The Galaxy S24 Ultra packs a robust 5,000mAh battery, supporting 45W wired and 15W wireless charging. The device ships with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB.

Running on Android 14 with One UI 6.1 out of the box, the S24 Ultra boasts an impressive 7 years of software support, ensuring a future-proofed user experience.

Pricing and Availability: Premium Comes at a Cost

The premium Galaxy S24 Ultra is set at $1,299.99 (roughly ₹1,08,125). The official price for the phone in India will be disclosed tomorrow. Lastly, the device comes in Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow.
