Galaxy S25 Slim and iPhone 17 Air May Not Be as Thin as Expected

According to @Jukanlosreve (citing South Korean leaker yeux1122), the Galaxy S25 Slim and the iPhone 17 Air may not be as slim as expected. Both smartphone OEMs have failed in their attempts to increase battery capacity through thinner substrates with new materials and techniques.

The leakster further says both smartphone makers will release their products by sacrificing certain aspects. Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25 Slim in limited quantities and increase the battery size by sacrificing some thickness. In addition, the South Korean tech giant is reportedly using a new battery technology for the Galaxy S25 Slim.

Apple will also retreat from its initial goals for both thickness and battery size. The iPhone 17 Air was initially expected to measure 5mm in thickness and replace the new iPad Pro, which is the thinnest Apple product ever, measuring 5.1 mm.

The adoption of a new substrate would have resulted in a slimmer design and a larger battery, but with the failure to adopt the new material substrate, it is now anticipated that the slim model will not achieve a thickness of around 6mm, and the battery capacity will not be significantly increased, says the leakster.

As far as the launch is concerned, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is rumoured to arrive by the first half of next year, while the iPhone 17 Air is likely to come in September along with other iPhone 17 series models.
