Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Claims Display Crown in DXOMARK Rankings: But What About Its Cameras?

Earlier this month, a durability test video of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra model showcased the build of the latest flagship. Now, the latest development reveals the next-gen Galaxy S25 Ultra has topped DXOMARK's display rankings with a score of 160, surpassing its predecessor and competitors. Here's everything you should know about the display ranking of Samsung's latest flagship.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Tops DXOMARK's Display Rankings

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has topped DXOMARK's display rankings, setting a new benchmark for smartphone displays with a stellar score of 160 points. This score positions the S25 Ultra at the pinnacle of both the global and ultra-premium smartphone categories. Trailing closely behind, Google's Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro have secured the second position with 158 points each.

The competition remains stiff with the Honor Magic 6 Pro, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 each garnering 157 points. In comparison, its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, scored slightly lower at 155 points.

According to DXOMARK, the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers exceptional outdoor readability. It has a peak brightness of 2,600 nits and is complemented by an anti-reflective coating, making the screen easily readable even under bright sunlight. Although the display might come across as overly bright in dimly lit environments, its performance outdoors is unmatched.

When compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the S25 Ultra demonstrates improved color accuracy, especially in faithful mode. It also exhibits fewer color shifts when viewed from different angles. While the testing showed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra's blue-light management had been slightly optimized, the device's inability to minimize blue-light emissions in night mode has prevented it from receiving the coveted DXOMARK Eye Comfort label.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra also shows remarkable improvement in video playback, particularly under low-light conditions-a domain where the S24 Ultra faced difficulties. It now offers a 24-nit HDR peak luminance for low-light viewing, ensuring comfortable viewing experiences while maintaining accurate local contrasts in both indoor and dim settings. Furthermore, the device handles video frames seamlessly, with no frame drops noted during playback testing.

However, the S25 Ultra's touchscreen interactions were good, according to the report. While navigating through web pages and photo galleries is generally smooth, the display sometimes detects unintended touches. It also lags slightly in touch responsiveness compared to other devices in the ultra-premium smartphone segment.

What About Its Cameras?

As for the camera capabilities of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, DXOMARK has yet to evaluate them. Nonetheless, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the S25 Ultra's predecessor, occupies the 23rd spot with 144 points in DXOMARK's camera rankings. It trails behind both the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, which are tied at the 21st position with 145 points each.

Moreover, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, which is priced significantly lower, surpassed the S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 in DXOMARK's camera test. With a score of 146 points, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra ranks 18th among top smartphones by camera score, highlighting a potential area for Samsung to improve in its next flagship model.
