Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ might come with Dex Pad
The rumors regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are increasing in number over time. As the launch date is approaching nearer, more details about these flagship phones are hitting the tech headlines.
We have already seen a slew of renders of these smartphones hit the web. The recent one claims that these Samsung smartphones will be launched along with a device that is similar to the DeX Station that came with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The DeX Station lets the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ users connect their smartphones with a keyboard, mouse or monitor to get a desktop-like experience. Likewise, the Galaxy S9 duo will also come with a DeX Pad that is slightly different from the previous one - DeX Station.
The EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) has received Samsung's trademark registration for the DeX Pad. This registration confirms that the company will launch the next-generation flagship smartphones - Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ with the DeX accessory. Given that the name is changed from DeX Station to DeX Pad, we believe that there will be some notable changes between the two.
Word has it that the DeX Pad works similar to a wireless charging pad and users need not have to dock their smartphones to it as in the case of the DeX Station. This accessory that will turn the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ into a desktop without the necessity to dock the smartphones will definitely enhance the overall performance of the devices. However, the DeX Pad will not be bundled with the smartphones and users need to purchase the same by paying an additional cost that might turn off many.
From the media reports, it is expected that the DeX Pad might be priced at $150 and the DeX Station might be priced at a lesser cost than before after the launch of the DeX Pad. For now, there is no further detail about the accessory, but it is believed that the DeX Pad might be unveiled along with the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech show in late February.
