Samsung recently confirmed the launch of its Galaxy S9 at the MWC 2018 in February. Ahead of launch, some of its key specs have been revealed through an alleged retail box leak of the smartphone. Fans may get disappointed as not many upgrades have been made to the Samsung Galaxy S9 as compared to its predecessor. That being said, Samsung's upcoming flagship does seem to feature a couple of interesting features.
As per the retail box, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will feature stereo speaker and a variable aperture rear camera. Some of you may recall, Samsung's flagship flip phone W2018 also comes with a variable aperture camera. Moving forward, the latest leak reveals that the Galaxy S9 will be equipped with a single rear camera with the same 12-megapixel sensor enabled with OIS. However, referred to as "Super Speed dual-pixel" camera, it will be capable of taking images faster.
As stated earlier, the rear camera will have a variable aperture. Just like the W2018 flip phone, the Galaxy S9's camera will have a maximum aperture size of f/1.5, allowing users to take excellent quality images in low light conditions. However, the camera will switch to f/2.4 when there is sufficient light. Moreover, the Galaxy S9 seems to be equipped with a feature called 'Super Slow-mo'.
Coming to other aspects, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is also said to arrive with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. Customers will also get earphones AKG tuned earphones in the box. Another piece of information that has been unearthed by the leak is that the smartphone will be IP68 certified.
As far as other details are concerned, the Galaxy S9 is believed to sport a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display delivering QHD+ resolution. Powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship processor Snapdragon 845, it seems to retain the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage combination. The front camera of the smartphone will be of 8-megapixel with autofocus. Lastly, it will also feature the Iris scanner.
On the design aspect, though, the Galaxy S9 is said to sport a similar design as that of the Galaxy S8. This means, the smartphone will have Samsung's signature edge-to-edge Infinity Display with the aspect ratio of 18:9. The placement of the fingerprint scanner, however, will be changed so that users do not have any problem while reaching for it.
