Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 Could Get Easily Removable Batteries

Samsung's next-gen foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, are rumored to feature pull tabs, making them easier to replace. To recall, the Galaxy S23 series also sported a similar pull tab for the battery.

Removable batteries are a great feature in terms of repairability since they can be easily swapped out if the battery is worn out or damaged. In addition, users won't have to dump their phones just because the battery won't work.

Galaxy Z Fold, Z Flip 5 Replaceable Battery

The battery details of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 were spotted by GalaxyClub on a South Korean certification site. Although the website showcased images of the batteries, the battery capacity is still under wraps.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 was seen with two batteries bearing model numbers EB-BF731ABY and EB-BF732ABY. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 features two batteries as well, bearing model numbers EB-BF946ABY and EB-BF947ABY.

As seen in the images, the batteries come with a pull tab which facilitates easy replacement of batteries. The report states that all Samsung phones launching in 2023 will feature pull tabs. The batteries for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are produced by Amperex Technology.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 Rumored Battery Capacity

According to rumors, the Galaxy Z Flip 5's secondary battery has a 971mAh rated capacity. That's smaller than that of its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which has a secondary battery with a rated capacity of 1,040mAh. Meanwhile, the primary battery capacity of the Z Flip 5 is still unknown.

Galaxy Z Fold 5: Rumored Features

Tipster Ice Universe claims the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will feature a 6.2-inch display like its predecessor. The device is expected to feature a new hinge which will reduce the appearance of the display's crease.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It could get 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB internal storage options. For the optics, the smartphone is expected to feature a triple-camera setup at the rear, headlined by a 50MP primary camera.
