Design and Display Enhancements
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 introduces a more refined design compared to its predecessor. When unfolded, it measures just 4.2mm thick, and when folded, it is 8.9mm. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is thicker at 5.6mm unfolded and 12.1mm folded. Additionally, the newer model weighs only 215 grams compared to the older model's 239 grams.
The display of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has also seen improvements. It now features a larger cover display of 6.5 inches FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, up from the previous 6.3 inches. The main screen size has increased to an impressive 8 inches from the earlier 7.6 inches.
Both models offer robust protection with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both sides for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 uses Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on its cover and retains Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on its back. They both maintain an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.
Camera Upgrades
For optics, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a triple-camera setup that includes a 200MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS, a 12MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 10MP telephoto shooter with OIS, 3x optical zoom, and an f/2.4 aperture. Moreover, the foldable also features two 10MP selfie cameras, one for the internal and another for the external screen.

For optics, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a triple-camera setup that includes a 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS, a 12MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 10MP telephoto shooter with OIS, 3x optical zoom, and an f/2.4 aperture. Moreover, the foldable also features a 10MP selfie camera on the cover display and a 4MP under-display selfie camera on the main screen.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with up to an impressive 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage capacity. This marks an improvement over the Galaxy Z Fold 6's Snapdragon Gen3 processor with up to only 12GB of RAM.
The software experience also sees advancements as the new model runs on Android-based One UI 8.0 version tailored specifically for this device generation, ensuring users have access to all latest features right out of box without needing immediate updates like older versions required previously. However, the Z Fold 6 will receive this update soon.
Battery Life
Both foldables are equipped with 4,400 mAh batteries with similar wired and wireless charging speeds, despite the Z Fold 7's slimmer and lighter form factor. However, due to differences in software optimization and power-efficiency gains of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, the Z Fold 7 might offer slightly better battery life.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 vs Galaxy Z Fold 6: Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 demands a premium, starting at Rs 1,74,999-Rs 25,000 more than last year's Z Fold 6. However, this price difference reflects substantial upgrades across the board. The Z Fold 7 offers a noticeably slimmer and lighter build, larger and more refined displays, and a major leap in camera performance with its 200MP primary sensor.
It's also powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, paired with up to 16GB RAM, and runs One UI 8.0 out of the box-delivering smoother performance and better battery optimization. For users seeking long-term value, cutting-edge features, and a future-ready foldable experience, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 justifies its higher cost and stands out as the smarter investment.
