Samsung Rolls Out Major Update for Galaxy S23 Series

The three flagship phones launched recently by Samsung in its S23 series are in for a new update that aims to enhance their performance. The three phones, Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra, went on sale in February 2023 in India. In the recent update rolled out by the brand, these phones are set for improvements.

The update has the version number S91xNKSU1AWC8 and is about 922.88MB in size. The primary focus of the update is the camera performance of the phones. A Samsung executive listed the several upgrades in store for the camera setup in the phones, let's take a closer look.

New Update for Galaxy S23 Brings About Camera Improvements

This new camera-focused update introduced in the three flagship phones of the S23 series claims to enhance the autofocus greatly. Both speed and accuracy of autofocus is set to improve.

Additionally, the camera app, as well as the gallery app is expected to load quicker with this new update.

The overall camera function and quality of pictures is set to improve too. Another new feature allows users to delete photos, even while they're being processed, right after they've been shot.

Another change in the autofocus algorithm will now let users click photos even when the focus hasn't locked in. However, those not wanting this feature can also revert to the older system, where pictures only get clicked after the focus has been locked in. Users can negate the feature added by the update by going to Camera Assistant > Prioritise Focus Over Speed ON.

Another issue people had noticed earlier was the green line, which seemed to appear on the left side while shooting in Photo mode, and this update is slated to fix the issue. Improved image stabilization is also expected to be another highlight of this update.

The camera update also improves on banding effects seen when shooting the sky.

The update is reportedly being rolled out in a phased manner for users of the S23 series.

Camera Specifications of the S23 series

The S23 Ultra, the most premium of the three, has a 200MP main camera. It has three other lenses, including a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera.

The Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus both have a triple-cam setup. Both have a 50MP main camera, 2MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. All three phones also have a 12MP selfie camera.
