Sony Xperia 1 VI Launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, 120Hz OLED Display, Zeiss Optics

Sony has officially unveiled its flagship Xperia smartphone in Europe. The Sony Xperia 1 VI is the latest flagship from the company and debuts alongside the Sony Xperia 10 VI.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI features a flagship Snapdragon chipset, an LTPO OLED display, a triple-camera setup with improved zooming capabilities, and a large battery with both wired and wireless charging support.

Sony Xperia 1 VI Specifications

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. However, regions in Japan and other East Asian regions will also get a 512GB storage variant. The Xperia 1 VI also comes with an FPS Optimizer and a a vapor chamber.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI sport a 6.5-inch FHD+ LTPO OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. This is a major shift from the 4K OLED displays of the past and a the 21:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, the Xperia 1 VI's display achieves a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and an adaptive refresh rate (1Hz - 120Hz).

The Xperia 1 VI also packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging support. You also get wireless charging support. The phone features Battery Care and Xperia Adaptive Charging technology, ensuring it retains 80% of its capacity after four years. The phone also packs front facing stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack with a Premium Audio Circuit.

Sony's latest flagship runs Android 14 out of the box. Sony promises three major Android OS updates and four years of regular security patches. The Xperia 1 VI features Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front and back. It also boasts an aluminum frame and an IP68 ratinf for resistance to dust and water.

Sony Xperia 1 VI Cameras

For optics, the Xperia 1 VI arrives with a triple-camera setup with a 48 MP primary sensor with dual pixel PDAF, OIS, an f/1.9 aperture, and a 1/1.35" sensor. The main camera is accompanied by a 12 MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 16mm focal length.

Lastly, there's a new 12 MP telephoto-periscope shooter with the same sensor size as the main camera. The unit is capable of focal lengths between 85mm - 170mm, going between 3.5x to 7.1x optical zoom. The camera also has a tele-macro mode, OIS, and eye tacking.

The camera system on the Xperia 1 VI is co-developed with ZEISS and features ZEISS T* lens coating. Up front, the phone boasts a 12 MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 60fps, going up to 120fps on the rear cameras.

Sony Xperia 1 VI Pricing, Availability

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is priced at €1,399 (roughly Rs 1,26,550) in Europe for the 12GB/256GB model. The Xperia 1 VI arrives in Black, Platinum Silver, and Khaki Green color options. The Sony Xperia 1 VI will be available for purchase starting next month. The Sony Xperia 1 VI isn't going to make its debut in India.
