Vivo X500 Series With New Vlogging Camera Could Debut In September

Right after the Vivo X300 Ultra launch, the company quietly shared a few hints about what it’s working on next. And it doesn’t seem limited to just another flagship upgrade.

From the way executives spoke about it, the focus is shifting a bit. It’s not only about improving cameras inside phones anymore, but also about how people actually use them, especially for content creation.

A Separate Vlogging Camera Is Being Considered

One idea that stood out was a dedicated device for self-recording.

Vivo admitted something that’s pretty obvious if you shoot videos regularly. Phone cameras are great when someone else is filming you, but the moment you flip it around, the setup gets awkward. That’s why a lot of creators still carry action cameras or other gear.

To deal with that, Vivo is working on a small, pocket-style camera with built-in stabilisation. The goal seems simple: make it easier to record yourself without juggling accessories.

This device is expected to arrive with the next X-series, which is likely to be called the Vivo X500 lineup. The timeline also looks earlier this time, with a Q3 launch in China, possibly around September.

Telephoto Accessories May Not Stay Exclusive

Vivo also talked about something it’s already experimenting with: external telephoto extenders.

Right now, accessories like the G2 and G2 Ultra are available for the X300 Ultra in China. They’re meant for situations where your subject is far away, like concerts or stadiums.

The company now seems interested in taking this idea further. It’s working on a more standardised way to attach these accessories and is considering bringing them to more phones.

The S Series Could Be Next

That expansion could start with the S series.

The upcoming S60 lineup, expected around May or June in China, is being looked at as a possible candidate. But Vivo isn’t committing to it yet.

The deciding factor is image quality. If the results aren’t consistent with the extender attached, the feature might not be introduced at all.

A Different Direction For Camera Features

Put together, this feels like a shift in how Vivo is approaching cameras.

Instead of keeping everything inside the phone, the company is exploring ways to build around it, whether that’s through accessories or entirely separate devices.

It’s still early, and a lot of this depends on how it actually works in practice. But the direction is clear enough. Vivo is looking at how people shoot, not just what the hardware can do.
