Vivo V17 With Quad-Lens Camera To Launch In India In 2nd Week Of Dec

Notably, the Vivo V17 has been already launched in Russia. Gsmarena.com reported that the V17 is not entirely a new handset but just a rebranded version of the Vivo S1 Pro which was launched in the Philippines earlier this week. The design and specifications backs up the claim.

There's no official information regarding the expected price of the handset in the Indian market; however, as per the launch price in Russia, Vivo can price the V17 somewhere around Rs. 25,000. At this price-point, Vivo V17 will fight the likes of sub-25K handsets including the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi K20 series (after its price drop), Realme X, Realme XT and other handsets priced around Rs. 20,000 price tag.

Vivo V17 Specifications And Features

The upcoming Vivo V17 sports a 6.38-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. The handset is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner and is powered by a 4,500mAh battery cell. Like the Vivo V17 Pro, the V17 will also sport a quad-lens camera setup but it will be placed inside a diamond-shaped camera module. The camera setup offers a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the Vivo V17 features a 32MP front-facing camera.

Vivo has unveiled the Vivo V17 in just one variant in the Russian market that offers 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The Indian market might get a 6GB variant of the handset. The smartphone offers a microSD card slot to expand the internal memory to up to 256GB. As far as software is concerned, the V17 runs FuntouchOS 9.2 based on Android 9 Pie.

As per reports, the Vivo V17 is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, which seems slightly underpowered for a device which might get a launch price of Rs. 25,000. Interestingly, the company has just unveiled the Vivo U20 handset in the Indian market that comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC at a starting price of Rs. 10,990.

The Qualcomm 675 SoC gives the Vivo U20 an edge over the competition as the rival devices-the Realme 5s and the Redmi Note 8 draws power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC. You can read about the Vivo U20 in detail in our first impressions of the smartphone.
