Vivo V9 Youth launched with 6.3-inch FHD+ display, Android 8.1 Oreo
Vivo V9 Youth also sports an iPhone X-like design with an edge-to-edge screen with a notch at the top.
Vivo has launched a new variant of the V9 in India without much fanfare. Dubbed as Vivo V9 Youth, it carries a slightly cheaper price tag of Rs. 18,990. The smartphone sports an iPhone X-like design with an edge-to-edge screen with a notch at the top. Available in Black and Gold colors, the V9 Youth has a metal unibody.
As far as specifications go, the Vivo V9 Youth comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ FullView display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a 2.D curved glass on top. The smartphone flaunts a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent. Under the hood, the V9 Youth is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is a dedicated microSD card for expansion of the storage space up to 256GB.
In terms of optics, the Vivo V9 Youth features a dual rear camera setup that comprises a 16MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor for bokeh effect. At the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera as well. Both the rear and front cameras come with LED flash.
On the software front, the V9 Youth runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system right out of the box with custom FunTouch OS on top. The smartphone is backed by a 3,260mAh non-removable battery sans fast charging support. Connectivity features onboard include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a micro-USB 2.0 port.
The Vivo V9 Youth will go on sale only via offline channels, unlike the Vivo V9 which is available on both offline and online retail platforms.
Looking at the specs, we think the Vivo V9 offers a better specs to price ratio than its newly launched sibling. While the V9 Youth carries a more affordable price tag, it comes with basic specifications except for the display. That said, if you are looking for a iPhone X lookalike smartphone without spending a lot of money, the V9 Youth is a good option.
Apart from these two smartphones, the Oppo F7 sports a display notch as well. Oppo F7 was the second smartphone in India to feature the notch; with Vivo V9 being the first.
