Vivo X Fold 5 Teased Ahead of Launch in India with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Carbon Fiber Hinge, Triple 50MP Cameras

Vivo is preparing to bring its latest foldable flagship, the Vivo X Fold 5, to India. The company has started teasing the device’s arrival on social media, just days after its launch in China. This comes close on the heels of Vivo also teasing the India debut of the Vivo X200 FE, suggesting a busy launch calendar for the brand in the premium smartphone segment.

The X Fold 5 will be available through Flipkart and Vivo’s official India store, with the official launch date expected to be revealed soon.

Durability and Design at the Center

According to Vivo’s official teaser, the X Fold 5 focuses heavily on durability. The foldable features a Carbon Fiber Support Hinge that has been tested to withstand 600,000 folds, aiming to reduce long-term wear and tear.

It comes with IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance, IP5X dust resistance, and even –20°C freeze resistance, making it one of the most rugged foldables currently teased for the Indian market. Despite this level of protection, the phone remains relatively slim, measuring 9.2mm when folded and just 4.3mm when unfolded, with a weight of 217 grams.

Shortcut Button and Hinge Improvements

One standout feature is the inclusion of a Shortcut Button, designed to offer quick access to apps and functions. Foldables are often about workflow efficiency, and this addition suggests Vivo is targeting power users who want more than just a large screen.

The hinge design, paired with the lightweight frame, reflects Vivo’s attempt to balance strength and usability — an ongoing challenge in foldable smartphone engineering.

Performance Backed by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

At its core, the Vivo X Fold 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Even though it's not the latest and greatest chip in the market, this should allow the device to handle multitasking, gaming, and productivity with ease, particularly on a large, foldable screen.

It is backed by a 6000mAh dual-cell battery, which supports 80W wired and 40W wireless fast charging — a noteworthy inclusion, considering the power demands of foldable form factors.

Camera System with Three 50MP Lenses

The foldable is equipped with a triple 50MP rear camera setup, headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor with an f/1.57 lens and optical image stabilization. It is accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide module and a 50MP 3x telephoto camera using the Sony IMX882 sensor.

Interestingly, the X Fold 5 includes two 20MP selfie cameras, one on the inner screen and another on the outer display — a setup that aims to deliver consistent quality regardless of how you’re using the device.

Launch Expected Soon, Flipkart Availability Confirmed

While Vivo hasn’t confirmed the launch date yet, the teasers suggest it won’t be far off. What is confirmed is that the X Fold 5 will be sold through Flipkart as well as Vivo’s online store.
