Vivo X21 with in-display fingerprint sensor soon expected in India
On May 2, Vivo has launched its X21 smartphone in Singapore, making the first global launch of the smartphone. The company's latest flagship X21 is set to go on sale on May 5 Singapore.
Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has announced its X21 smartphone back in March. It was its second phone with the in-display fingerprint sensor and the launch was held in China. On May 2, the company has launched the smartphone in Singapore, making the first global launch of the smartphone.
The company's latest flagship X21 is set to go on sale on May 5 Singapore. The phone will come with a price tag of S$800, which converts to about $600, £440 or AU$800. There's no word on when Vivo will launch its X21 in Indian and the US market. As we all know the Vivo has a very strong hold of customers in India.
The Vivo X21 sports the biometric scanner under its 6.28-inch display. Which is unusual as the majority of the smartphones typically have their fingerprint sensor at the back of the device or below the screen on the home button. To unlock the X21, users simply need to touch their finger to the on-screen fingerprint prompt. It also comes with face unlocking feature.
The Company has showcased the in-display fingerprint scanning technology first time during the CES 2018 tradeshow earlier in January. The X21 is Vivo's second smartphone to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, after the Vivo X20 Plus UD.
The phone sports a 6.28-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. the smartphone also comes with a notch along with 1.66mm narrow bezels on the sides, 1.79mm bezels on the top and 5mm on the bottom. The X21 is powered by Snapdragon 660 AIE Artificial Intelligence Chip clubbed with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
On the camera part, the smartphone features a dual-camera setup with the combination of 12-megapixel primary sensor with Samsung 2L9 sensor with Dual Pixel technology and a 5-megapixel secondary rear camera to capture the depth information. It has AI scene recognition which will automatically detect 17 scenes. On the front, the X21 houses a 12-megapixel front camera with AI beauty recognition for a perfect selfie.
On connectivity part, the X21 offers 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, AK4376A Hi-Fi audio chip. The phone is backed by a 3200mAh non-removable battery with fast charging. It runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Funtouch OS 4.0 with A.I features.
