Vivo X500 Camera Specifications Confirmed Ahead of Launch: 50MP Main & 64 MP Periscope Cameras Teased

Vivo has officially confirmed key camera details of the upcoming Vivo X500, and the standard model is shaping up to be a major upgrade over its predecessor. The smartphone will be launched in China this month alongside the Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max.

The biggest highlight is that Vivo is bringing camera hardware previously associated with its higher-end models to the standard X500. The company has confirmed a 50MP Sony LYTIA-828 main camera and a 64MP Sony LYTIA-610 periscope telephoto camera.

Vivo X500 Camera Specifications Confirmed Ahead of Launch

Vivo X500 Camera Specifications

The Vivo X500's primary camera uses the 50MP Sony LYTIA-828 sensor, which measures 1/1.28-inch. The same sensor was used on the Vivo X300 Pro, and Vivo says it is the largest main camera sensor ever featured on an X-series standard model.

The main camera also gets ZEISS gimbal-level stabilisation with a CIPA 5.5 rating. The combination of a large sensor and advanced stabilisation should benefit low-light photography as well as handheld video recording.

The camera upgrade continues with the telephoto unit. The X500 will use the 64MP Sony LYTIA-610 sensor, which is also featured on the X500 Pro. It comes with CIPA 5.5 stabilisation and supports 4K video recording at 120fps for slow-motion footage.

Vivo is also promoting support for its compact "Lipstick 200" teleconverter, designed to provide additional reach for distant subjects such as performers at concerts.

Vivo X500 Expected Specifications

Beyond the confirmed camera hardware, some specifications remain based on leaks and reports. The standard Vivo X500 is expected to feature a 6.37-inch display and a 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000-series chipset.

A 50MP ultrawide camera has also been tipped, potentially giving the phone a triple-camera setup. However, Vivo has not officially confirmed these specifications yet.

Vivo X500 Launch Date and Availability

Vivo has confirmed that the X500 series will launch in China in September, with the lineup comprising the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. The exact launch date and pricing are yet to be announced.

There is also no official confirmation yet regarding the Vivo X500 India launch or global availability.
