Vivo X80 Pro Could Be Manipulating Super Moon Photos
Taking detailed moon shots have become an integral part of smartphone photography, especially among Android flagships. However, the Vivo X80 Pro doesn't seem to be completely honest in its portrayal of the moon. According to a leakster, the smartphone could be manipulating some of the moon shots it claims to capture in great detail using AI-assisted zoom technology.
Vivo Faking Moonshots?
The Vivo X80 Pro comes with a feature called Supermoon, which enables the camera system to zoom in and capture minute details of the moon. However, in a series of Tweets, tipster Alvin has shared a number of pictures detailing the experience of shooting the moon with the Vivo X80 Pro.

The first tweet shows two images of the moon, taken at 1x using auto and another with the Supermoon Mode. The auto mode shows the moon as it appears in the sky, while the Supermoon mode makes it appear much larger.
The images prove that the Supermoon mode could be faking the moon images, as the photos were taken with the same magnification, which will not create a noticeable change in size.
The tipster also tested the capabilities of other smartphones such as the Samsung S23 Ultra with the zoom set at 65.3x for a comparable image. When compared to the Vivo X80 Pro, there was a significant difference in the two photos, showing enough proof of Vivo manipulating the moonshot by superimposing pre-shot images of the moon to make it look more realistic.
While that certainly is a novel approach, considering we always see the same side of the moon, and most people will not complain about getting a clearer shot. But the fact remains that there is a thin line between photography and photoshop, and this one falls somewhere in between.
