After the launch of the mid-range selfie-centric Vivo V9, the Chinese manufacturer has come up with another smartphone in India. Well, the talk is about the Vivo Y71. This is a new budget smartphone from the company priced at Rs. 10,990. The device has been launched in Black and Gold color variants and will be available from the offline stores across the country. We can expect the device to be available via online stores as well.
Vivo Y71 boasts of a 5.99-inch HD+ FullView display with 2.5D curved glass screen. The screen resolution is 1440 x 720 pixels and the aspect ratio is 18:9. At its heart, the smartphone employs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, which was used by the yesteryear models such as V7 and V7+ from the company. This processor is teamed up with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of default storage space. There is a dedicated microSD card slot supporting expandable storage space as well.
For imaging, the Vivo Y71 makes use of a 13MP rear camera along with LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera as well. The connectivity aspects of the smartphone are standard including a dedicated dual SIM card slot, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and GPS. The device gets the power from a 3285mAh battery, which should last for a day without any issues. The Vivo smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo topped with the company's Funtouch OS.
No fingerprint sensor
The launch of this smartphone is not a great surprise as we came across a leaked TENAA listing revealing the key specifications of the Y series phone. The one aspect, which it misses out is the presence of a fingerprint sensor.
Having said that the Vivo Y71 is priced at Rs. 10,990, we can say that this smartphone is aimed to compete against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Honor 9 Lite priced similarly. However, the 16GB of storage capacity is pretty low for a smartphone of this pricing in the current era. The lack of a fingerprint sensor on board the device makes us feel that the latest Vivo smartphone is more expensive for its specifications.
