Xiaomi 15 Series Design Revealed Ahead of Launch: Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun Confirms Price Hike

The Xiaomi 15 series is making its debut in China on October 29, 2024. The line-up will include the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. The Xiaomi 15 series will debut as the first smartphones to incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

While details about the Xiaomi 15 series are still scarce, the company recently teased the design of the upcoming smartphones. Moreover, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also revealed that the Xiaomi 15 series price will be hiked over the Xiaomi 14 series.

Xiaomi 15 Series Expected Pricing

Lei Jun took to his Weibo account and said, "The cost of components has increased a lot this year, and we've also invested heavily in R&D. So, the Xiaomi 15 does need a price increase." He also pointed out that the Xiaomi 14 was priced at CNY 3,999 as promised, but that won't be the case with the Xiaomi 15.

The post confirms that the Xiaomi 15 price in China will start from upwards of CNY 3,999. We believe that it will range anywhere between CNY 4,299 (roughly Rs 50,800) to CNY 4,499 (roughly Rs 53,150) for the base model.

While there is no mention about the 'Pro' model, we believe the Xiaomi 15 Pro's starting price could also be hiked anywhere between CNY 5,299 (roughly Rs 62,600) to CNY 5,499 (roughly Rs 64,950). This is down from the Xiaomi 14 Pro's starting price of CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs 59,050), at the time of its launch.

The Xiaomi 15 series launch date in China is set for October 29 at 07:00 pm local time or 04:30 pm IST. We expect the Xiaomi 15 to make its debut in India during the first half of 2025.

Xiaomi 15 Series Key Specifications

The Xiaomi 15 series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The Xiaomi 15 series will sport 120Hz LTPO OLED displays, with the standard version using a flat screen as opposed to the micro-curved panel on the 'Pro' variant. The Xiaomi 15 is expected to pack a 5,500 mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 15 Pro could opt for a 6,000 mAh cell.

The Xiaomi 15 series will support 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support, going up to 80W wireless charging on the 'Pro' variant. The Xiaomi 15 is also expected to feature a trio of 50MP sensors on the back for the main, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses, although the 'Pro' variant will trade the telephoto lens for a periscope shooter.
