The Xiaomi 15, launched in October in China, has yet to make its debut in India. However, attention is already shifting to its successor, the anticipated Xiaomi 16. It appears the next iteration of Xiaomi's flagship series may see a significant upgrade in its camera technology.

According to recent information, the Xiaomi 16 might incorporate a periscope telephoto lens, marking a notable advancement in its photographic capabilities. This potential upgrade over the Xiaomi 15 which lacks a periscope telephoto lens.

Xiaomi 16 May Feature Periscope Lens

The source of this exciting news is Smart Pikachu, a well-known tipster, who has indicated that Xiaomi is in the process of integrating this advanced camera technology into the Xiaomi 16.

The introduction of this feature in the Xiaomi 16 would enhance its zoom functionality, allowing users to capture clear images from greater distances. This move is seen as Xiaomi's response to consumer demand for higher-quality camera features in flagship smartphones. In addition to this major camera upgrade, the Xiaomi 16 is rumoured to continue featuring a 6.36-inch compact screen size.

Apart from this, nothing more is known about the next-gen Xiaomi 16. Now, the brand is gearing up to launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra in China. While the exact launch date is still unknown, a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station reveals the phone might arrive by February 2025.

In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and ships with Android 15-based HyperOS 2.0. Besides, the phone is expected to bring upgrades in terms of camera.

As far as the India launch is concerned, the brand could launch both the Xiaomi 15 and the 15 Ultra at the same time in the country. Rumours suggest both models might arrive sometime in March 2025.
