Xiaomi 17 Series Launch Confirmed for September: Xiaomi Will Skip 16 Series to Take on iPhone 17 Line-up

Xiaomi is yet to become one of the first, if not the first, OEMs to adopt Qualcomm's new flagship Snapdragon chip launching next week. While leaks of the Xiaomi 16 series' specifications have been doing the rounds for some time now, we now have confirmation of a major rebranding.

Xiaomi Chairman and CEO Lei Jun recently confirmed that the company's upcoming flagships will be rebranded as the Xiaomi 17 series. This appears to be in response to Apple's recent iPhone 17 series launch.

Xiaomi 17 Series Confirmed

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the line-up will include the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. While the brand is yet to announce details, we expect the Xiaomi 17 series launch date to take place later this month.

Moreover, the tipster also noted that the Xiaomi 17 Pro will be the brand's compact flagship, while the new Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will feature a large form factor. Yadav's post also reveals that the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max would not replace the 'Ultra' model and that a Xiaomi 17 Ultra would be arriving in 2026.

Xiaomi 17 Series: What to Expect

The Xiaomi 17 series will be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Moreover, the Xiaomi 17 series will also feature LTPO OLED displays with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the three phones in the Xiaomi 17 series are expected to pack massive silicon carbon batteries.

The Xiaomi 17 series will run on Android 16-based HyperOS 3.0. The Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro are expected to feature three 50MP rear cameras - a main, telephoto, and an ultrawide.
