Xiaomi 17 Series May Borrow Apple-Inspired Features; Pro Models to Sport Secondary Display

Xiaomi recently confirmed that the company's upcoming flagships will be rebranded as the Xiaomi 17 series, seemingly in response to Apple's iPhone 17 series.

Not just the naming, but Xiaomi's new devices are also expected to bring several similarities with the latest iPhone 17 lineup. Additionally, the company has also shared the first glimpse of the Xiaomi 17 Pro models through teasers. For the unaware, the Xiaomi 17 series will likely include the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Now, let's take a look at the new details:

Xiaomi 17 Series Likely to Mirror Apple Features

Apple first introduced the Dynamic Island, and now Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to bring its own version with the upcoming HyperOS 3. Interestingly, Xiaomi's version may carry a familiar name - Xiaomi Super Island. The feature is expected to support small window multitasking, allow up to three active islands simultaneously, and more.

Speculation also suggests that Xiaomi could introduce a new Liquid Glass UI with its flagship. While Apple brought the Liquid Glass design with iOS 26, a leaked screenshot of HyperOS 3 reveals a strikingly similar aesthetic. The interface showcases frosted blur effects, glossy icons, and a transparent glass-like search bar.

Moreover, the official teaser reveals Xiaomi will introduce a secondary rear display. Both Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will sport a functional secondary screen. In addition, the devices will carry Leica branding on the back, extending Xiaomi's imaging partnership. The phones will have a triple-camera system, with two large sensors placed vertically inside the camera module and a smaller third lens positioned next to the flash.

Xiaomi 17 Series Expected Features

The Xiaomi 17 series will likely be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. They will also pack massive silicon carbon batteries and LTPO OLED displays with an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate.
