Xiaomi’s Next-Gen Xring O2 Processor Could Debut in the 17S Lineup

It looks like Xiaomi isn’t taking a break on its chip-building plans. The company only just introduced its first homegrown processor, the Xring O1, inside the Xiaomi 15S Pro earlier this year. Now a new leak hints that Xiaomi is already gearing up for its next chip, and it may show up sooner than expected.

Xiaomi’s Next-Gen Xring O2 Processor Could Debut in the 17S Lineup

A New Leak Points to the Xiaomi 17S Series

The latest update comes from Smart Pikachu, a popular Chinese tipster who claims that the Xiaomi 17S series is now in development. The name sits right in line with Xiaomi’s usual pattern, where the “S” models act as a sort of testing ground for ideas the brand doesn’t want to push globally just yet.

If this leak turns out to be accurate, the 17S lineup will be the first to run Xiaomi’s second-generation in-house chip, the Xring O2.

The 15S Pro Was Only the Beginning

The Xiaomi 15S Pro didn’t try to reinvent anything on the outside. It looked and behaved a lot like the standard 15 Pro. The real change was inside the phone, where Xiaomi swapped out Qualcomm’s processor for its own. That shift alone was a big signal of where the company wants to go in the long run.

With the 17S series, Xiaomi seems ready to take the next step. Early reports say the new models will bring upgraded processing power and a more refined baseband, which is still being worked on. Because of that ongoing development, 2026 feels like the most reasonable release window.

Expect It to Stay China-Only for Now

Just like the previous “S” model, the 17S series will likely remain limited to China. Xiaomi tends to use this lineup to test its silicon in a more controlled environment before thinking about a wider rollout. For global flagships, Snapdragon chips remain the safe and familiar choice, at least for now.

What We’ve Heard About the New Xring O2 Chip

Actual details on the Xring O2 are still pretty light, but the early chatter says it’ll be built around ARM’s Travis core. That alone suggests a jump in efficiency and speed, though we’ll need to see real numbers before judging anything.

What’s clear is that Xiaomi’s chip plans aren’t just a side project. The company is slowly building out its own roadmap, and the 17S series looks like the next major checkpoint.
