Xiaomi's CEO reveals Mi MIX 2 retail box and promo images ahead of the launch

By now we have already heard and seen several leaks as well rumors about the new Xiaomi smartphone Mi MIX 2.

While the upcoming handset has been leaked on several occasions in the past, and the company has also confirmed a launch event on September 11, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 smartphone is said to come with the latest hardware and software that is currently in use in most of the flagship smartphones.

However, all the details are yet to be officially confirmed and as of now we simply cannot fully agree with the leaked specs though they could be partially right as well. But again, since we still have some time before the main launch, we will be seeing more leaks and rumors online.

And that has just happened. Well, this time the leak comes from the company's main executive Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi. Well, Jun has shared images of the company's upcoming bezel-less heavyweight Mi MIX 2 retail box on social networking site Weibo.

Besides, it seems that Lei Jun has been quite active on social media these days. And apart from the retail box, Jun has also posted promo campaign images as well. But among all these, the most exciting teasers would be the two photos depicting the retail box that the Mi MIX 2 is going to ship in. Looking at these images, it could also mean that Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 has entered mass production.

Talking about the box, well, it is a square-shaped black colored box that seems to come with a cover on top with the MIX branding. Further, once the cover is opened there is a lid that basically covers the Mi MIX 2 and its packaged internals from being revealed. There seems to be some message written on top of the lid as well. Apart from that, the package doesn't reveal the phone itself, but the minimalistic black/gold combination looks appealing and it further seems like Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will come in a good package.

As for the various promo campaign images, they basically hint at the bezel-less nature of the smartphone. In almost every picture we notice three extra thin bezels on the left, right, and top, with a slightly thicker chin situated at the bottom.

All in all, that is what we can learn from all the leaked images.

Besides, as mentioned above, Xiaomi will be unveiling the Mi MIX 2 just a day ahead of the iPhone 8 launch on September 12 at the University of Technology Gymnasium in Beijing.

Just to help you have an idea of what to expect from the smartphone, well, based on previous leaks, the upcoming Mi MIX 2 is expected to sport an impressive 93 percent screen-to-body ratio. Moreover, Xiaomi's Mi MIX 2 is said to come with a 6.4-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display.

The new Mi MIX 2 will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 540 GPU. Further, the smartphone will likely come in several variants including 4GB RAM with 128GB storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage.

As for the optics, the phone is said to sport a 13-megapixel front camera and a 19-megapixel sensor at the back. The smartphone could be backed by a 4500mAh battery and it could run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the box.

In any case, we will have to wait another 6 more days for the launch. Then everything will be revealed. Exciting times it is.
