|

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro was unveiled on Tuesday along with the Mi TV 5 series and Mi Watch at an event in China. The USP of the smartphone is the presence of a penta-lens camera setup. We have already seen such a camera arrangement on the Nokia 9 PureView but it looks like the Xiaomi offering is a real performer with a 108MP primary sensor.

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Tops DxOMark Ranking Surpassing Flagships

Soon after its launch, the Mi CC9 Pro's camera performance has started receiving applauds. It is touted to deliver stunning results. The premium edition of the smartphone has topped the DxOMark's ranking as one of the best smartphones for photography and a superior one in terms of videography.

Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro DxOMark Ranking

It has received a score of 121 similar to that of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro on the photography front. And, when it comes to videography, the Mi CC9 Pro has scored the most than any other smartphone ever. With such a score at the DxOMark database, the Xiaomi smartphone has definitely achieved an impressive feat.

With a score of 121 points, the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro is positioned above Android biggies such as Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, Galaxy S10+, Google Pixel 4 and Huawei P30 Pro. Detailing its score, in still photography, it has scored 130 points, in video recording, it scored 102 points, which is the highest score given to smartphones by DxOMark.

Superior Performance

In the test, it is said that the dual telephoto camera lenses of the Mi CC9 Pro delivered superior zoom performance. Also, the autofocus performance was accurate and fast. The bokeh effects and depth estimation were found to be great. Even the distortion is said to be minimum in wide-angle shots. The database reveals that the natural skin tones were retained even in night shots.

On the downside, the database mentions that the edges of the images turned out to be less sharp and the photos of the sky are said to show a purple tint. And, the Mi CC9 Pro is said to be lagging behind rivals in terms of dynamic range.

When it comes to videography, the smartphone struggles with limited dynamic range, frame drops, judders, and occasional color fringing, claims DxOMark. The selfie camera test is yet to be conducted and we can expect it to score well in this aspect as well.

What We Think

On the whole, the score of 121 shows the camera prowess of the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro. This makes it clear that superior camera performance is not restricted to flagship smartphones.
