Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S tipped to launch ahead of MWC 2018

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S has been making the headlines since the past few days. A recent report claimed that the smartphone will be unveiled at MWC 2018 alongside the flagship Mi 7. Well, we have just come across a new rumor that suggests otherwise. According to a Weibo post of a Chinese tipster, Xiaomi has decided to launch the Mi Mix 2S in February, but not during the MWC.

Xiaomi is said to host a separate event ahead of the MWC to unveil the Mi Mix 2S. However, the tipster didn't give the exact date and venue of the event. Neither did he post any details of the smartphone. However, he asked the readers to guess which Xiaomi smartphone would be the first one to feature the Snapdragon 845 chipset. Since we are pretty sure that Mi 7 would be the answer, it remains unknown which processor will power the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S.

Some Chinese publications were earlier speculating that the Mi Mix 2S would be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC. However, it is believed that Qualcomm's latest flagship processor will make its debut on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones. So it is highly unlikely that the successor to the last year's Mi Mix 2 would feature a Snapdragon 845 chipset.

While the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S have appeared in quite a few leaks, we are yet to get any hint from the company itself that proves the existence of the smartphone. A couple of weeks back, alleged renders of the device had surfaced online revealing its design. In the renders, the Mi Mix 2S was shown to feature a iPhone X-like notch at its top bezel. Initially the renders made a lot of hype, but later it was found out those were photoshopped pictures which was probably the work of some fan.

If you recall, another picture (above) said to be of the Mi Mix 2S was leaked by Slashleaks which looks relatively authentic. As you can see, the smartphone sports a full-screen design with almost no bezels. There is also an awkwardly placed notch at the top right corner that houses the front camera. Coming to the rear panel, there is just a single camera lens and under it lies a circular fingerprint scanner.

While we have no way to confirm if this picture will turn out to be legit, leaks and rumors are all we have until the official launch of Mi Mix 2S.
