We know that Xiaomi is prepping the MIUI X or MIUI 10 that will succeed the latest iteration of the custom ROM, MIUI 9. The next-generation MIUI custom ROM is believed to be rolled out sometime later this year. At the recently concluded 2017 Annual Meeting for MIUI division in China, the company's co-founder and VP, Hong Feng heading the MIUI division confirmed the upcoming custom ROM.
Apart from the names MIUI 10 and MIUI X, no other information about it were revealed by the company's VP. However, it looks like Xiaomi has started hosting an opinion poll that will let the Mi fans suggest the name of the upcoming MIUI version. The opinion poll is hosted on the official MIUI Weibo page and it has two options - MIUI 10 and MIUI X.
During the recent conference wherein the company revealed about the next MIUI version, it was displayed as the MIUI 10 on the projector screen. Following the same, there were claims that the next iteration of the custom ROM will be dubbed MIUI 10. However, from the recent opinion poll, it looks like the company has some other plans as it is looking out for the votes from its fans.
We can expect the tenth edition of MIUI to be a special one as Xiaomi is giving its fans the decision to name it. The voting is live and will be open for six days. At the time of writing this story, a little less than 8000 Mi fans had cast their votes and around 80% of the voters preferred MIUI 10.
From the existing reports, the MIUI 10 aka MIUI X is believed to arrive with a great focus on Artificial Intelligence. In one of the previous interactions with fans in a live Q&A session, Hong Feng himself tipped at the same as the AI is an emerging trend. As competitors such as Huawei and Google have started focusing a lot of AI, it is time that Xiaomi also ramps up its efforts on this segment in order to stay competitive in the market. Back then, the company was also looking forward for the features that the users hope to see in the custom ROM.
