The situation is all set to be changed as it looks like the Redmi 5 will be launched in India on February 14.
We say so as the company has posted a teaser on its official Twitter handle and also sent out media invites for a launch event in New Delhi in the next week. Though the invite does not reveal the name of the upcoming smartphone, it is believed to be the Redmi 5 as the teaser and invite carry the number 5. Also, the time frame of this launch coincides with one of the previous reports that tipped that the Redmi 5 will be launched in India by the second half of February.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus those were announced in December 2017 carry the credits for being the first full-screen design smartphones from the company after the original Mi Mix. The Redmi 5 boasts of a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Eventually, the device will have no room left for any other aspects except for the selfie camera and sensors at the top bezel.
When it comes to the key specs, the Redmi 5 gets the power from a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC paired with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage space that can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The device runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat topped with MIUI 9 out-of-the-box and makes use of a 3200mAh battery.
The imaging aspects of the Redmi 5 include a 12MP rear camera accompanied by LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera that also has a LED flash for better low-light selfie shots. The other goodies on board the Xiaomi phone include dual SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a micro USB port.
