Xiaomi Redmi 5A gets MIUI 9 global stable ROM: How to install
Xiaomi Redmi 5A has started receiving the MIUI 9 global stable ROM and here's how to install the same on your device.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A has started getting the MIUI 9 global stable ROM based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The MIUI 9 stable OS was officially released globally a few days back with a slew of new features. It was only on Wednesday that Xiaomi revealed a list of 40 devices and those will get the MIUI 9 update and the Redmi 5A also was one of them.
Notably, the company has not left its outdated models without the update as some of the devices in the list revealed by Xiaomi were launched back in 2012. A majority of the smartphones that support the MIUI 9 stable ROM were launched in 2017. Given that many old models are also awaiting the update, it shows the commitment of the company in rolling out the same.
New features to see in Redmi 5A
From the forum post by Xiaomi, it is clear that the MIUI 9 will add several changes to the Redmi 5A such as AI Assistant integration, universal search for images based on keyboard, split-screen feature and more. The Mi Mover will support data migration restarting after the update and this will help in restoring the data migration on a new smartphone despite interruption.
Latest version of MIUI 9
The users can expect the rollout of an OTA update or through the Updater app in the coming days. The global stable ROM of MIUI 9 with the version number 9.2.1.0.NCKMIEK in the Updater app. Xiaomi confirmed that the MIUI 9 Global ROM is available for the Redmi 5A via its official forum post and also posted the key highlights of the update as well.
How to install
If you want to install the MIUI 9 stable ROM manually on the Redmi 5A, you need to unlock the bootloader first. Now, your phone should turn on with a fastboot screen. Connect the device to a PC, download the FastBoot ROM, extract it on the PC and open the MiFlash tool. Now, select the ‘Clean All' option and check ‘Select' to locate the directory where the files are stored. Then hit ‘Flash' to flash the ROM and then reboot the device to run it with MIUI 9, claims a Techook report.
