Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Nougat update released for Indian users
Xiaomi appears to have begun rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat as part of MIUI version 8.5 for the Redmi Note 4.
Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to Redmi Note 4 users in India. The company has finally released the new update starting August 16 and users should receive a notification for the update.
If you have not received the notification then you can manually check for the update for your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. All you need to do is go to the phone settings and click on the About Phone tab and after clicking at the bottom you will find the System updates icon. You can click on that and check for updates.
Well, the update comes at a size of 1.3GB. Users should have enough space as well as battery life for the installation of the update. The update also brings along the July Android security patch with it. Interestingly, the Android 7.0 NRD90M Nougat update is not based on MIUI 9.
Instead, the update comes in a stable version of MIUI with 8.5.4.0(NCFMIED) as the version number. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is also scheduled to receive the MIUI 9 update as well in the coming days. The beta version of MIUI has also been released so if you want to test it then you can read this article.
In any case, Redmi Note 4 (review) users will now be able to experience Nougat and its features hands-on. Android Nougat will come with features like split-screen multitasking, more customizable quick settings, improved Google keyboard, enhanced notifications and recent applications window, extended battery life, and a host of other new features.
The new update also boasts of faster app launch times, a more dynamic resource allocation for a fluid experience, and other smart features and improvements.
Just to recall Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 smartphone in January this year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The company has taken nearly seven months to bring the latest Android update for its popular handset Redmi Note 4 in India.
