Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 reportedly catches fire in the owner's pocket
A report about a Redmi Note 4 explosion was widely circulated on social media over the weekend.
While Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has been in the news for all the right reasons, this time it has managed to make the headlines for somewhat an unusual case.

Well, Xiaomi's top-selling phone is in the news after it allegedly burst into flames inside the pocket of a user in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The report about Redmi Note 4 explosion has already been widely circulated on social media.
Sakshi.com, a Telugu news website was the first to report on the matter and as per the publication, the phone allegedly exploded in the owner's, identified as Bhavana Suryakiran, pocket while he was riding his bike over the weekend.
The local news website has also posted images that show a burnt Redmi Note 4, as well as the injured victim who seems to have sustained burns from the explosion. As for the company, Xiaomi has stated that it has already been aware of the situation and has also started the investigation on the matter.
"We take such matters seriously as customer safety is of utmost importance for Xiaomi. All of our devices go through stringent quality tests," a Xiaomi spokesperson said in an email statement. The spokesperson has further said that the company is in the process of procuring the damaged unit for thorough investigation.

Bhavana had purchased the Redmi Note 4 from Flipkart and it has been reported that he is looking to take legal action against Xiaomi for selling a defective unit and at the same time see damage compensation.
Xiaomi was also under the radar for a similar case just last month. A video of the alleged Redmi Note 4 smartphone was circulated on the internet where it showed the smartphone exploding and catching on fire as soon as a technician at a shop tried to take the SIM tray out. However, Xiaomi India, following an investigation into the matter, then said the video had nothing to do with a Redmi Note 4 and that it was fake.
Meanwhile, the company did accept the fact that a Redmi Note 4 did explode in Bengaluru, but the mishap happened due to customer-induced damage. Xiaomi India did replace the customer's damaged unit with a brand new Redmi Note 4 but also advised customers to use only Xiaomi authorized products.
