Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Android 8.1 Oreo update brings Project Treble support
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro starts getting the Project Treble support.
Earlier today, we came across a report that the MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM is available. The company came up with a confirmation of the list of eligible smartphones and the update schedule as well. The list does include the Redmi Note 5, which was launched in China in the last week. Actually, the same device has been announced in India as the Redmi Note 5 Pro in February.

Eventually, the Redmi Note 5 Pro has started receiving the MIUI 9.5 update. This update takes the smartphone from Android 7.1.2 Nougat to Android 8.1 Oreo. Also, the device gets the highly anticipated Project Treble support too, claims a report by XDA Developers.
Indian users can also flash it
According to reports, the MIUI 9.5 China update can be flashed on the Redmi Note 5 Pro units in India. It is said that Xiaomi uses the same codebase and codename for both the Indian and Chinese variants of the device letting users to in India to flash the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM on their devices. Last month, at the MWC 2018 tech show, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was spotted running Android 8.1 Oreo. This news gave us hope that the smartphone will get the update anytime soon. More hopes poured in as the Chinese variant of the device was launched with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
Should you install the MIUI 9.5 China Global Stable ROM?
If you want to download and install the China update on your Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, then you need to flash the same on your smartphone. Notably, flashing an update might make your device even unusable on a temporary basis. Unless you want to take the risk, it is recommended to wait for the official update to be rolled out in India.
