Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5A specs and design revealed by TENAA

While the Redmi Note 4 is pretty successful in the Indian market, it looks like the company is all set to release the successors to build up on the success.

Lately, we have been hearing about smartphones such as Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5A. Like their predecessor, these are also believed to be targeted at the affordable market segment. Now, these two upcoming smartphones seem to have made their appearance on TENAA, the Chinese certification site. The certification website has revealed a fair idea of what we can expect from these smartphones and how they may actually look like.

The Redmi Note 5 is believed to be the premium offering among the two. The TENAA listing claims that this smartphone will arrive with a 5.5-inch HD 720p display and make use of a 1.4GHz octa-core processor. While the listing does not mention that the name of the processor it is likely to be the Snapdragon 630 SoC.

The Redmi Note 5A is believed to be a toned down variant of the Redmi Note 5. This one is listed on TENAA sporting a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and it is believed to be the Snapdragon 425 SoC. The screen size and resolution seem to be identical to those of the Redmi Note 5. Also, there appears to be a 3000mAh battery operating under the hood of this entry-level smartphone.

Talking about the differences between the two variants, the camera and storage aspects are the notable ones. While the Redmi Note 5 seems to feature 3GB RAM and 32GB storage that can be expanded up to 128GB, the Redmi Note 5A is said to feature 2GB RAM and 16GB storage that can be further expanded up to 32GB.

On the imaging front, the Redmi Note 5 is listed featuring a 16MP main camera sensor and a 13MP selfie camera. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5A is listed to arrive with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. Both the smartphones from Xiaomi seem to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with MIUI 9 on top. The premium variant of the duo is said to feature a fingerprint sensor on board.

The TENAA listings have revealed that the Redmi Note 5 will be launched in Black, Gold, White, Gray and Rose Gold color variants and that the Redmi Note 5A will get Black, White, Gold, Blue, Gray, Silver, Pink, Red, and Rose Gold color variants.
