Xiaomi is all set to launch a new mid-range smartphone in India on February 14. While initially it was believed to be the Redmi 5 or Redmi 5 Plus, recent reports suggest the company will launch the Redmi Note 5 instead. The smartphone will be a Flipkart exclusive and the company has already confirmed a couple of features that will be present on the Redmi Note 5.
Firstly, the smartphone will feature a bigger display with high screen resolution and minimal bezels around it. Secondly, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5's display will carry the trending 18:9 aspect ratio. The teaser may reveal only these two features, previous leaks have given us a good idea of what to expect from the smartphone. Now, with just two days left for the launch day, MobileXpose has posted an alleged render of the Redmi Note 5.
In line with the latest teaser, the smartphone appears to sport an elongated display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The upper and lower bezels are narrower as compared to its predecessor. The lower bezel is empty, while the upper bezel houses the selfie camera, flash, sensors and the earpiece.
At the rear, the render shows the alleged Redmi Note 5 featuring vertically stacked dual cameras. The LED flash is placed just below the camera module. If you go a little south, you can spot the circulars fingerprint scanner.
That being said, we must mention that the new render doesn't come from an official source. This means we can't guarantee you the authenticity of this leak.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is rumored to come with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD full-HD+ display with the screen resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone could make use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. The chipset will be clubbed with either 3GB/ 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of native storage space.
On the optics front, the Redmi Note 5 is likely to feature a rear dual camera setup comprising of a 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. At the front, the smartphone is said to house an 8MP selfie snapper with 1080p video recoding support.
The upcoming Xiaomi phone is speculated to run Android 8.0 Oreo OS with MIUI 9 and pack a large 4,100mAh battery. If you are wondering about the pricing, the Redmi Note 5 will probably cost around CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs. 15,400).
