Xiaomi Set to Unveil Redmi A2 Series in India on May 19th

Xiaomi has announced the launch of the Redmi A2 series smartphones, consisting of the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+, on May 19th, 2023, at 11 AM IST. The company has already listed the upcoming series on its website, showcasing the specifications and features of the devices.

Redmi A2 Series: Everything You Need to Know

The Redmi A2 and A2+ were introduced back in March. Coming to specifications, the Redmi A2 and A2+ come with a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen and are powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G36 12nm processor with an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

They have 2GB / 3GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB eMMC 5.1 internal storage, expandable up to 1TB with microSD.

The phones run on Android 13 (Go Edition) and have dual SIM (nano + nano + microSD) support. The A2 and A2+ feature an 8MP rear camera, a 0.08MP depth camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera, with the A2+ also having a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS + GLONASS, and a 5000mAh battery with 10W charging.

The Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ are available in Light Blue, Light Green, and Black colors.

Based on the specs, the Redmi A2+ is essentially the same phone with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

For comparison, the Redmi A1 launched in India with a starting price of ₹6,499 for 2GB/32GB. Later, the Redmi A1 Plus was introduced at ₹7,499 for 2GB/32GB and ₹8,499 for 3GB/32GB.

In terms of specifications, the Redmi A1 featured a 6.52-inch 720p display with a waterdrop-style notch and scratch-resistant glass.

It was powered by MediaTek's Helio A22 processor and supported dual SIM cards. In terms of optics, it featured an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies.

The phone ran on a clean Android 12 experience, which was one of its unique selling points.
