Xiaomi, a day after teasing the Mi5 launch, has now confirmed that the Redmi 3 will be unveiled on Jan 12 i.e. this Tuesday. The company has now posted a teaser on Chinese social network Weibo which gives a glimpse of the rear of the budget Xiaomi offering.

For those unaware an alleged device referred to as the Redmi 3 with a model number Mi 2015811 had passed TENAA certifications last week in China. It packs a 5 inch HD (1280x720p) display, 1.5GHz octa core SoC, 2GB RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage. Apart from that the alleged device features a 13MP rear and 5MP front facing Selfie Snapper.It runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 and measures at 139.3x69.6x8.5mm and weighs up at 143gms. Guess what, this device according to the TENAA listing is none other than the Redmi 3.

The back of the device which got leaked via the official teaser, is however somewhat different from the one listed in TENAA. As a matter of fact the device in the teaser images comes with a textured back unlike the smooth metal finished one found in the TENAA images. It seems like Xiaomi may launch a premium version of the device with a textured back along with the one which cleared TENAA at their event on 12 Jan.
