You Can Try the New OnePlus 13 and 13R for Just ₹149: Here's How

Amazon has introduced a Try & Buy service for the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R, allowing customers in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore to test the devices at home for ₹149 before deciding whether to buy them. This service was first rolled out with the OnePlus Open foldable, and now, Amazon is extending it to flagship smartphones.

The idea is simple: instead of just relying on reviews, users get a short hands-on experience with the phone in their own space. But with a 20-minute limit, the question is-does this trial period actually help in making a purchase decision?

You Can Try the New OnePlus 13 and 13R for Just ₹149: Here's How

How the Try & Buy Service Works

To access the Try & Buy service, users need to:

  • Find the Try & Buy Banner - Visit the OnePlus 13 (or 13R) product page on Amazon or search for "OnePlus 13 Try & Buy" in the app.
  • Book the Trial - Add the service to the cart and check out by paying ₹149.
  • Schedule a Time Slot - Choose a convenient time for the Amazon representative to visit.
  • Test the Phone for 20 Minutes - The representative will arrive with the device, and you can use it to take pictures, browse apps, or check its performance.
  • Decide Whether to Buy - If you like the phone, you can complete the purchase via your Amazon account. If not, the representative takes it back.

The service is currently limited to certain PIN codes within Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Users should check availability before booking.

20 Minutes: A Good Enough Trial or Too Short?

The biggest limitation of this service is the 20-minute time limit. While it's helpful to hold the phone, feel its build, and test the display, it's not really enough for a thorough evaluation.

For example, if you want to check gaming performance, downloading a large game, setting it up, and playing it for a meaningful amount of time is nearly impossible in 20 minutes. Similarly, assessing camera quality under different lighting conditions or testing battery life isn't realistic in such a short session.

A trial at home is convenient, but a longer session-maybe an hour or more-would make this service much more useful.

Will Amazon Expand This Service to More Cities and Brands?

Right now, Amazon's Try & Buy is only available in a few cities and is exclusive to OnePlus devices. If this service is successful, there's a possibility that it could expand to other smartphone brands and locations.

A longer trial period and more flexibility in device testing could make this service a game-changer for online smartphone shopping. Until then, it's a convenient but limited option for those who want a brief hands-on experience before committing to a purchase.
