Nokia Lumia 1520 Launched With 20 MP Camera And 6 Inch FHD Screen

Remember those persistent rumors about Nokia's plans to unveil two new 6 inch phablets? Well, they're not rumors anymore. The Finnish phone maker unveiled several new devices at its Nokia World event earlier today. Among them was the Lumia 1520 6-inch phablet which happens to be the most exciting of the lot.

The features and specifications are in line with rumors in the past. Even though Windows Phones have never required powerful hardware for smooth performance, the Lumia 1520 packs a quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.26GHz processor which has been seen in phablets like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Xperia Z1. It also uses 2GB of RAM. It happens to be the first Windows phone with a 1080p display, with a screen size of 6-inches. The 1520 also has a 3,400mAh battery, built-in wireless charging, and support for LTE networks.

Now talking about imaging, Nokia has used a lower-resolution version of its 41-megapixel PureView sensor, which is a 20 megapixels. It has optical image stabilization and and the PureView capabilities of zooming in after you take a picture without a loss of quality. However, zoom is restricted only to 2x, unlike the Lumia 1020, which has 3x of zoom.

To sum it up, its a large phone and we are looking at the biggest Windows Phone handset yet. The phone weighs about 208 grams, rather light for its size. The Lumia 1520 will be available in black, red, yellow, and white.

The handset is expected to be available in India before the end of the year. Nokia says the unsubsidized price for the Lumia 1520 in the US will be around $749 (Rs.46,000 aprox).
