Realme P4 Pro Review: A Good Value For Money Option Under Rs 25,000

The Realme P4 Pro joins the jam-packed sub-Rs 25,000 price segment as yet another interesting option that focuses on all the parameters, but leans more towards performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 does the heavy lifting here, but Realme couldn't resist throwing in a secondary chip dubbed Hyper Vision AI that's meant to jazz up the display and squeeze out up to 144fps in games. In practice, though, it feels more like a marketing gimmick than real value add.

That said, the phone does a lot of things quite well - including gaming, even without relying on that extra chip. I've been testing the Realme P4 Pro over the past few days, and I also compared it with the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion in some segments. Here's my detailed review.

Performance

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 might be new to the market. Still, Realme is no stranger to it, having already debuted it in the Realme 15 Pro - which, by the way, is almost a replica of the P4 Pro, with a few additional features that have helped bump it up to the sub-Rs 35,000 price segment. But the replication also bears some fruit in the form of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage combo across all its variants.

It's no surprise that the Realme P4 Pro fights through every modern-day task thrown at it with absolute ease. It manages multiple apps, switching between them and multitasking very well. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 inside the P4 Pro is a capable chip, and it shows in our gaming tests and synthetic benchmarks. Here's a quick look at them in the table below, and a head-to-head comparison with the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, which houses the MediaTek Dimensity 7300.

Fusion in almost all the tests. While it does fall behind slightly in the CPU throttling test, the difference is not significant, and the P4 Pro managed the heat dissipation well. But, the scores in Geekbench AI are miles apart, indicating that the Dimensity 7400 handled AI tasks much better than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The 3DMark results also give us a glimpse at the Qualcomm Adreno GPU's prowess.

Gaming Performance

With synthetic benchmarks out of the way, let's look at gaming and how Realme's claims play here. In Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the Realme P4 Pro can go all the way up to Smooth and Extreme+, which means you can attain 90fps gameplay. If you switch the graphics to HDR, you can still choose Extreme, allowing you to game at 60fps with slightly better visual fidelity. Below is how the P4 Pro handles the game in both settings.

Smooth + Extreme+ HDR + Extreme
Average FPS 88.2fps 59.6fps
Minimum FPS 68fps 45fps
5% Low 78.2fps 52.9fps
Maximum Temperature 37.1°C 37.3°C
Average Power Consumption (W) 4.88W 3.84W

The Realme P4 Pro handles BGMI in both these settings quite well and efficiently by consuming adequate power and barely reaching high temperatures. The gameplay was quite smooth without any noticeable lag, which the 5% lows pretty much indicate. The touch response was also great, and I faced no issues with multiple touch inputs.

The AI Hyper Motion and Boost frame rate settings, which claim to push games up to 144fps using frame interpolation, didn't live up to the hype. Across graphics settings, the in-game benchmark showed 120-144fps, but the actual gameplay experience never felt smoother than 90fps. To verify, I used a third-party FPS meter, which confirmed that with HDR + Extreme enabled, the phone barely hit 72fps - only about 12fps higher than the native frame rate, and nowhere near the leap Realme promises.

Cameras

The Realme 15 Pro comes with a 50-megapixel primary camera at the rear that is paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. At the front, you get another 50-megapixel selfie camera.

The camera UI is quite packed in terms of features. You get to choose between photo styles - vibrant and crisp. This sets the colour tone of all the images. The former leans more towards a warmer temperature, while the latter prioritises details and sharpness.

The Realme P4 Pro has a reliable and decent set of cameras. The primary shooter captures a decent amount of detail and manages the dynamic range well. While the images maintain the colours of the foliage and other subjects well, the temperature of the photos is often a miss. The ultra-wide-angle camera somewhat maintains the overall colour science of the primary image, but loses out on details due to the lower megapixel count. Images have a decent amount of detail in low light. Night mode further enhances the output by brightening the environment and keeps most of the noise at bay.

The 50-megapixel front shooter is capable of some good quality selfies, but it tends to wash out the colours of the shirt and the skin tones at times. That said, the photos have a good amount of detail, and the dynamic range is also well-balanced.

As for videos, the Realme P4 Pro can go all the way up to 4K at 60fps, which is good.

Display and Speaker Quality

Another ace up the Realme P4 Pro's sleeve is its display. The phone packs a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel (1280 × 2800) with a 144Hz refresh rate. The curve is subtle - enough to look premium but not aggressive to the point of causing accidental touches. Realme claims a peak brightness of 6,500 nits and 1,800 nits in High Brightness Mode; in my testing, it maxed out at 1,999 nits with extra brightness enabled, making it brighter and more legible outdoors than the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion.

The Hyper Vision AI chip makes an unnecessary appearance here as well, promising boosted clarity, HDR, and MEMC. "Hyper Clarity" didn't show any visible improvement while streaming Panchayat on Prime Video, but MEMC and Always-On HDR worked as advertised.

The display itself is excellent - colours are vibrant and punchy, making everything from casual scrolling to binge-watching look lively. HDR10 support on Netflix works straight out of the box, and darker films like The Batman benefit from convincing black levels that preserve detail without crushing shadows. The stereo speakers complete the package with loud, clear output; vocals stay crisp, highs don't distort at max volume, and there's just enough bass to give movies and games some depth.

Design and Build Quality

At first glance, the Realme P4 Pro could pass for the Realme 15 Pro, but the wooden-textured finish and boxier rectangular camera housing give it just enough personality to stand on its own. For this review, I have the Birch Wood colourway with me, and it does look quite gorgeous.

The back panel keeps the fingerprints at bay and is subtle enough to camouflage into your wooden work desk. The frames are painted in gold and blend in very well with the whole aesthetic of the phone. What's impressive is that the Realme P4 Pro tips the scales at 189 grams despite packing in a 7,000mAh battery. For context, the newly launched Redmi 15, which also comes with the same battery capacity, weighs 217 grams. So, that's pretty much a wrist exercise device.

However, the P4 Pro comes with an IP65 and IP66 rating, as opposed to the IP68 rating on the Realme 15 Pro. While these ratings will keep it safe during the usual rains and accidental water splashes, dropping it into water will be a problem.

Software

The Realme P4 Pro runs on Realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15 out of the box. Realme UI is fun to interact with, app-opening animations are smooth, the control centre gives quick access to necessary things, and you get a bunch of customisation options. The phone comes with a handful of pre-installed apps, which somewhat brings down the experience, but thankfully, these can be uninstalled.

Just like every other brand on planet earth, Realme has also gone the route of AI and infused something called AI Edit Genie into its Gallery. And, for once, I am not annoyed by an AI feature in my phone. It's quite fun to use and has surprised me on multiple occasions. It can be controlled via text or audio prompts and edits the images quite well as per the ask.

Battery and Charging

The 7,000mAh battery inside the Realme P4 Pro comfortably lasts more than a day, even on heavy usage that involved 2 hours of BGMI gameplay. In our PCMark Battery Test, the phone lasted for 20 hours and 15 minutes, which is higher than what both the Realme 15 Pro and the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion could achieve.

You get an 80W charger in the box, which takes the phone from dead to 100% in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Verdict

The Realme P4 Pro is one of those rare phones in the sub-₹25K segment that actually feels like money well spent. It focuses on the three pillars that matter most to everyday users - performance, display, and battery life - and pretty much nails all three. Whether you're multitasking, binging on Netflix, or pulling long BGMI sessions, the P4 Pro doesn't flinch.

Gaming is handled impressively well on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, though Realme's HyperVision AI chip is exactly what it sounds like - a shiny marketing extra that doesn't move the needle in real-world use. It's not a dealbreaker, nor is it a selling point.

The phone's cameras are good, but not great, and this is where the P4 Pro shows its compromises. The primary shooter holds its own, but the ultra-wide falls short on details, and the selfie camera occasionally fumbles skin tones. It's not bad - just not on the same level as the rest of the phone's hardware.

That said, at 7.7 mm thin with a massive 7,000 mAh battery, bright 144Hz AMOLED panel, and smooth everyday performance, the Realme P4 Pro is easily among the best-balanced options in its class. If you want a dependable daily driver that doesn't drain your wallet or your battery by dinner time, this one deserves a serious look.
