Vivo T4x 5G First Impressions - The Good, The Bad, and The X-Factor

The Vivo T4x 5G is launched in India as the successor to last year's T3x 5G. Unlike its predecessor, the T4x 5G is based on the MediaTek Dimensity chipset and has a massive battery with fast-charging support. Vivo has also introduced a refreshed design, which shares some similarities with the two-year-old Vivo T2x 5G but stands out with an Aura Light Ring that glows in a Purple colour when you receive notifications.

Priced at Rs 13,999, the Vivo T4x 5G can be a great competitor to the recently launched Galaxy M16 and Redmi 14C 5G (Review). However, whether it surpasses its rivals remains to be seen. I've had the device in my hand for a few days, and while a full review is on the way, here are my first impressions of the latest Vivo T4x 5G.

Vivo T4x 5G First Impressions Review: The Good

Starting with performance, Vivo has equipped the T4x 5G with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, an upgrade over its predecessor, which came with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset. Notably, the same Dimensity chip powers the mid-range Vivo V40e, which is priced at Rs 28,999.

The processor can handle regular tasks and casual games without any hiccups. I haven't encountered any performance issues during my limited testing. I'll test it further to give an in-depth performance verdict. The smartphone also comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, with the option to expand the RAM virtually up to 16GB for improved multitasking.

Upfront, the Vivo T4x 5G sports a Full HD+ (2408×1080p) resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate. From my initial experience, the UI feels buttery smooth, and scrolling is also impressive. Another standout feature of the Vivo T4x 5G is its IP64 rating, offering better dust and water resistance compared to some competitors, which are limited to an IP54 rating.

For imaging, the Vivo T4x 5G offers a dual rear camera setup led by a 50MP main sensor, which is capable of capturing detailed shots. The 8MP front camera also impressed me with its natural-looking selfies. Additionally, the Aura Light feature enhances low-light photography, making night shots more refined. I'll dive deeper into its camera performance in my full review.

Furthermore, the Vivo T4x 5G packs a massive 6,500 mAh battery, which is claimed to be the segment's largest battery. It also supports 44W fast charging, juicing up the phone from 0% to 40% in a mere 30 minutes.

Vivo T4x 5G First Impressions: The Bad

One of the drawbacks of the Vivo T4x 5G is its glossy finish, which makes the phone quite slippery. The back panel also attracts fingerprints and smudges easily, especially when used without a case. This is a common issue with glossy panels, as seen with the Vivo V40e (Review). However, Vivo addresses this by including a case in the box.

Another downside is the lack of expandable storage. While the device supports additional virtual RAM, it doesn't offer a dedicated microSD card slot, which is usually seen in models in this price range.

Additionally, the Vivo T4x 5G features an LCD panel, whereas rivals like the Galaxy M16 5G feature a Super AMOLED display, which offers more vibrant colors. This could be a bummer for users who prioritize display quality.

Vivo T4x 5G First Impressions Review: The X-Factor

The Vivo T4x 5G stands out with its impressive battery life, fast-charging, and glossy back panel, complemented by the Aura Light, making it an attractive choice for those who prioritize design.

Despite the lack of a few features, like an ultra-wide camera and a dedicated microSD card slot, the device still delivers a well-rounded experience for its asking price. Stay tuned for my full review, where I'll dive deeper into its features and performance.
