It all started back in July when a bunch of fans, of famed Gujarat politician Narendra Modi, announced to launch a smartphones named "Smart NaMo" soon. Later in August Smart NaMo Phablet featuring 6.5-inch 1080p display was unveiled. Now new SmartNaMo phones called Saffron One and Saffron Two are up for pre-order on online retailers at Rs. 999. Moreover, the Smart NaMo Saffron One which comes in White and Black color choice is available in two variants, 16GB with 1GB RAM and 32GB with 2GB RAM. They are priced respectively at Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 23,000. But the SmartNaMo Saffron Two comes only in White variant featuring 32GB storage capacity and is priced at Rs. 24,000.

Smart NaMo Saffron One

The device comes packed with a 5-inch Full HD display featuring 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6589T processor coupled with 1GB and 2GB RAM depending on the variant. The new phablet runs on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. Moving on to camera, the Saffron One features 13 MP auto focus rear camera with LED Flash capable of recording video at 1080p Full HD along with a compelling 5 MP front-facing camera. In the connectivity section, the handset is made to support Dual SIM (3G + 3G) with Dual Standby including 3G (HSDPA: 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA 5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, aGPS. When it comes to storage, buyers will get the choice of 16GB and 32GB internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. The handset that weighs 126 grams is powered by a remarkable 3150mAh battery.

Saffron Two comes with a larger 6.5-inch Full HD display offering a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is powered by a same 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6589T processor coupled with 2GB RAM. It runs on upgradeable Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. Both Saffron One and Two comes with the similar specs with the only difference being the display. Thus, even in this handset one can find a same 13 MP auto focus rear camera with LED Flash with 1080p Full HD video recording facility and 5 MP front-facing camera. Connectivity options also remain the same with Dual SIM (3G + 3G) with Dual Standby, 3G (HSDPA: 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA 5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and aGPS. It features a 32GB internal storage capacity which is expandable up to 64GB. It weighs a bit more at 230 grams and is powered by same 3150mAh Polymer battery seen on Saffron One.

After have a run down on the specs of the two NaMO handset, one can say that these handsets are pretty good. But the Smart Namo doesn't seem to stop here because the company has also teased their upcoming Saffron X handset on its Facebook Fanpage showing that it would come with Android and Linux dual-boot system with Dual LTE support and stunning 4GB RAM along with 128GB internal storage. Thus, looking at the teaser, this will be the first homegrown handset to come with such extreme specs and the image also says that the handset will come in November. However, when it comes to Saffron One and Two, these devices will surely have a tough time battling with devices from Micromax, Karbonn, Xolo, Samsung among others.
