Sony Xperia Z Ultra Hands on Review: Big Screen Entertainment with Stunning Graphics

Processor, OS and Battery

This is the most interesting part of the review. For any smartphone, a stable processor is needed in order to get desired performance. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra packs a 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor, 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC.

The Xperia Z Ultra is stuffed with same processor found inside the LG G2 and Xperia Z1. In our tests, we found the device extremely responsive. It is far the best smartphone to play graphics grilling games.

Xperia Z Ultra runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. There is no indication when can we expect to see Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. But how does it matter? Sony's own UI skin on the top of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is insanely beautiful.

The Socialife app is a new way to enjoy your social life. It basically mirrors your social activity on any home screen. The concept is similar to BlinkFeed, but there is a vast difference between the two. Thanks to a large display, Sony has added more columns, now you get six icons in the home screen.

The look and feel of app menu and customization remains unchanged. The user interface is buttery smooth, thanks to Qualcomm powered Snapdragon 800 chipset. Landscape mode will prove icing on the cake. Although there are some applications which GizBot would like to recommend.

The foremost of all is an app named Sketch. It's a funny way to draw a sketch and later customize accordingly. The phone also houses standard Walkman and Album app for listening to music and watching videos on the go.

Battery life is decent, but again we're not at all impressed. Under the hood a 3050mAh battery sits comfortably. Its 8-9 hours of battery will get you through the day. The battery is optimized to give more juice; since the display is huge we can't expect more.
