Even though there are a lot of headphones available out there in the market there are a very few designed to used by out door sports enthusiasts. The reason for this the requirements for such devices are very strict and they have to be extremely durable.

Philips Oneil collaboration has launched Bend headphones which is apt for extreme sports like skiing since it is built especially to be used to temperatures as low as sub-zero. The headphones are designed to be tuff and also to offer top notch sound quality. The headphone is made in an over the ear design. The headband can be stretched out until it is completely flat and can be bent and adjusted to fit your head. It is very flexible, so, that may be the reason behind the name, ‘The bend’. The device comes in beautiful dual tone color.

 

The ear cups are made up of premium materials and they are large enough to cover the ears completely. The large ear cups offer superior noise isolation. The soft padding in the ear cups is super comfortable and it is ideal for listening to hours of music. The elastic band above provides a very tight and snug fit for the ear cups. So you don’t have to readjust the ear cups while you are moving or worry about it falling down. The headband is made of hard plastic and it too is some what comfortable. The design and built of the device is also very beautiful.

 

Philips Bend headphones feature a non tangle design connecting wires. The wire has a 3.5 mm audio jack in one end and it connects to the headphone via secondary jack. This allows you to separate the wire from the headphone and this offers more ease in carrying it around. The wire is well protected by material covering and they sport the same design and color as that of the headphone. The bright wires and the dash of colors in the headphone give the device a very attractive and bold look. The device has dimensions of 16.5 cm x 19.5 cm x 6.3 cm (W x H x D). It weighs only 110 grams and that is very surprisingly light for a full size headphone.

Sound quality of Philips Bend headphones is exceptional. They throw in the right amount of bass and treble and reproduce all the sounds very faithfully. The high fidelity of the headphones lets you hear vocals with crystal clear clarity. The bass is also good and there is a solid feel to it. You crank up the volume a bit and you will be transformed quickly into another world where music surrounds you. The padding plays a major role in music quality. It blocks most of the ambient noise ensuring only the required sounds are relayed to your ear. The closed driver design is so well executed that not much of the device output sound escapes the ear pads. This lets you enjoy music with as much high volume as you please in a public place and be sure that none of the other people around you will get annoyed because not much sound comes out of the headphone.

Philips Bend headphones have a frequency response in between 15 and 24, 000 hertz. The 40 mm driver has neodymium magnets and features a closed acoustic system. The headphones can output a maximum power of 100mW. The sensitivity of the device is 107dB and has an impedance of 32ohm. The cable has a total length of 1.2 meters. Philips Bend headphones is priced in between Rs. 4,000 and Rs.5,000/- in India.
