Vivo Y1s: Design
Vivo Y1s is the latest budget offering by the company. It features a plastic build and has a gradient rear panel with a dual-tone finish. The rear panel accommodates a single camera unit on the top-left alongside the LED flash. The only other thing you will notice on the back panel would be the Vivo branding. The device flaunts a big display with slim bezels (except for the chin). It is an LCD panel that measures 6.22-inches in size. The display delivers a standard HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The selfie camera is packed inside a waterdrop notch. The design here is standard which resembles the affordable handsets launched in the past.
Vivo Y1s: Hardware Performance
The Vivo Y1s uses the MediaTek Helio P35 entry-level processor to carry out all the multitasking at hand. The octa-core chipset gets clubbed with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage option. The onboard storage can be further expanded via a microSD card. It can support up to 256GB microSD card. The handset is suitable to use with standard tasks such as web surfing, calling, and video playback. You will be able to play games as well. However, its performance wouldn’t be lag-free with graphic-intensive games and multitasking.
Vivo Y1s: Price To Specs Ratio
The Vivo Y1s can be purchased for Rs.7,990 in the Indian market. It is launched in a single RAM and storage option. It would have been appreciated if the brand launched additional RAM and storage options as well. You will be able to buy the handset in two color options including Aurora Blue and Olive Black colors. The pricing is fair looking at the overall spec-sheet. This segment has several existing players. Brands like Poco, Realme, and Xiaomi have some better options to offer. That’s when you consider the hardware.
Vivo Y1s: Camera Performance
The imaging on the Vivo Y1s is handled by a single 13MP camera sensor at the back. This lens comes with an f/2.2 aperture. It will be sufficient to general photography that too in the daylight. There is no dedicated depth lens, so, the handset won’t be able to click hardware-based bokeh shots. For selfies and video calling, the unit will be using a 5MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.
Vivo Y1s: Important/ Highlight Features
The Vivo Y1s has a 4,030 mAh battery that keeps the processor ticking. The device runs on Android 10 OS and has a Fun Touch OS UI. It offers standard connectivity options such as a microUSB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
Vivo Y1s: Verdict
The Vivo Y1s joins the league of the budget smartphone segment in India. It comes as a successor to the Vivo Y1 with slight upgrades in the hardware. The unit is packed with basic hardware which explains the cheap price tag. But, there are devices with better hardware that retail in this price segment. The Poco C3 and the Realme C11 are amongst such devices.

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.
So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.
Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.
Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.
The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.
A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.
This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
