Apple Intelligence Could Cost $20 a Month, Analysts Suggest
Apple's forthcoming artificial intelligence (AI) system, dubbed Apple Intelligence, has sparked considerable interest since its announcement in June. However, with its delayed rollout now expected in October, analysts are focusing on what Apple might charge users for access to these advanced features.
While no official pricing details have been released, analysts speculate that Apple could charge up to $20 per month for the service.

Apple Intelligence is set to redefine AI on Apple devices, offering features such as an enhanced Siri, automatic email generation, and AI-powered image creation. Despite the excitement surrounding these capabilities, the delayed launch has left many wondering not only when they will have access but also at what cost.
According to analysts, the introduction of Apple Intelligence may come with a subscription fee, reflecting the significant investment Apple has made in developing these advanced AI tools. With Apple's history of monetizing its services effectively, the notion of a paid subscription for premium AI features is gaining traction.
Analysts Predict a $20 Monthly Subscription
Several industry analysts suggest that Apple Intelligence could be priced between $10 and $20 per month. This potential fee aligns with Apple's broader strategy to bolster its services division, which generated $24.2 billion in revenue during the June quarter alone. Given Apple's established premium pricing model, a $20 monthly charge would not be surprising.
Neil Shah, a partner at Counterpoint Research, highlighted that AI development is costly, and Apple is likely to pass some of these costs onto consumers. He noted that Apple could integrate this fee into the existing Apple One subscription, which currently costs $19.95 per month and includes services like Apple Music, Apple TV+, and iCloud.
Monetizing AI: A Growing Trend
Charging for AI services is not new in the tech industry. Competitors like OpenAI and Microsoft already charge users for access to advanced AI tools such as ChatGPT and AI Copilot. Apple's largest rival, Samsung, is also exploring revenue models for its Galaxy AI services.
Ben Wood, Chief of Research at CCS Insight, pointed out that Apple has successfully monetized its value-added services in the past, setting a precedent that could extend to Apple Intelligence. By offering AI as part of a bundled service or as a standalone subscription, Apple could further strengthen its services division.
Locking In Loyalty Through Personalization
One of the key benefits of Apple Intelligence is its ability to learn from user behavior, creating a more personalized experience over time. This aspect of AI could serve as a powerful tool for customer retention, as users become increasingly dependent on Apple's ecosystem.
Shah emphasized that as users engage more with Apple Intelligence, the system will become more tailored to their preferences, making it difficult to switch to other platforms. This "lock-in" effect could be a significant factor in Apple's AI monetization strategy.
