MTNL New Service: Order Telecom Connection At Your Doorstep by an SMS

In a recent development, MTNL, the state run enterprise has launched a unique service by which consumers can place orders for telephone connections by SMS or online! The surprise factor doesn’t end there; as the Indian telecom major is also offering the services to be delivered at your doorsteps. As informed by the organization, this service will be applicable to all customers in Delhi and Mumbai where MTNL has operations.

Further, it has been reportedly informed that customers can order for landline or mobile or broadband service availing this ‘single window’ facility. MTNL Executive Director, A.K. Bhargava said in the media statement that this is the first one of its kind service in the country.

He added, “Anyone having mobile connection of any operator can send an SMS to 9868552121 and get a new landline, broadband or mobile connection of MTNL.

This long code is accessible round- the-clock and even on holidays”.

The rates for sending such service requests by SMS will be charged -- as per the nominal standard rates. Moreover, the customers who are using MTNL Dolphin service will need to use toll free short code 52121 for availing this service. Lately, MTNL has been launching many services targeted at simplifying the services like in Mumbai customers can book for broadband connections by calling a toll free number.

They also launched another facility for customers looking to shift their network, using mobile number portability. According to the service, the customers can dial a toll free number – 1800111503 to retain their mobile number. As announced by the company, all these services are being offered at no additional charges.

Well, it can be said, MTNL seems to be aggressively pursuing these strategies to keep their customers happy as well as keep the competition away from their customer base.
