Sundar Pichai To Head Alphabet

'A letter from Larry and Sergy' in a blog post announced the changes in the companies. The letter upholds the individual identity of both Alphabet and Google. "Google is not a conventional company. We do not intend to become one," the letter says. On the other hand, Pichai announced his new position in a tweet, which also highlighted the 'long term focus on tackling big challenges through technology'.

Larry Page is known for his support towards startups and his eye for technological detail. Page had focused on helping budding and newer businesses that could bring out unique and innovative ideas to the global market. He left Alphabet's biggest unit Google, handing it over to Pichai as its CEO. Sergy Bring served as the president of Alphabet concentrating on robotic projects.

However, over the past two years, the duo has retreated from the public eye. They were often spotted during Google's events, but have largely stayed behind closed doors. At the same time, the media, lawmakers, and others have constantly been demanding answers from the Alphabet founders regarding controversial projects.

Sundar Pichai To Head Alphabet: Focus On AI

The trio- Page, Bring, and Pichai have highlighted their focus on developing artificial intelligence. The idea is to use AI and machine learning to make web searches and other such tasks faster and seamless for the user. Heading Google and Alphabet, Pichai plans to increase the efforts to make the technology available worldwide.

Google's footprint in the world is massive today. And it has drawn criticism for various projects with AI. Moreover, Google was also said to be experimenting with a search engine in China that would be scrutinized by the Chinese government. The company was also in talks to create an AI project for the US military, which faced a massive backlash from the employees.

At the same time, investors are happy with the decision. Alphabet stocks have risen 0.64 percent just hours after the announcement. However, one should wait out and see how the new decision will impact both the companies and their users worldwide.
