Vivo Announces New Manufacturing Facility With 2000 New Employees In India
Vivo has announced the roll-out of its new assembling unit in Uttar Pradesh India. This is phase one and phase two extension will start from mid-2020. The company has also announced that it is going to invest Rs. 7,500 crore in India.
It seems all the smartphone manufacturers are slowly moving to India for assembling their units. At the start of this year, Apple also opened an assembly unit in India to cut down the custom cost and now it's Vivo who is expanding in the country.
The newly launched Vivo manufacturing plant is situated at WTC Tech zone in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The existing assembly units are capable of producing 25 million units approximately. With the addition of a new manufacturing facility now the company will be able to produce added 8.4 million units which will change the total to more than 33 million.
Moreover, the company has also employed 2000 new workers at the new assembly plant. The company claimed that the phase two expansion will add more than 5,000 employees. If this turns out to be true then Vivo India manufacturing unit will have 15,000 employees.
"We have been wholly aligned with the 'Make in India' initiative since our inception in 2014. From time and time again we have shown our commitment to the region by constantly expanding our manufacturing capabilities. With the help of our new facility in Greater Noida, we will be able to meet the growing demands for our products in India," Fone Arena quoted Nipun Marya, Director-Brand Strategy, Vivo India.
Meanwhile, the company is also planning to launch a new smartphone in the mid-range segment. Let's see when we are going to witness the launch. The Vivo S5 design has been revealed in the official poster earlier today. The official poster showcased the front and rear design of the phone with the diamond-shaped camera setup.
