Windows 8 sales to debut on October 26
Microsoft Corp has announced that its new touch friendly operating system, Windows 8 will go on sale on October 26. Earlier, Microsoft had officially confirmed the launch of Windows 8 will be in October. It is to be noted that exactly three years back, the firm launched the Windows 7 operating system.
Customers can upgrade their old PCs to the new platform starting from that date. They can even buy new hardware with the Windows 8 installed in them from October 26th.
Usually, Microsoft does not announce any public release dates until it is close to the event. This indicates that, the Windows 8 platform will be available soon.
The software giant is releasing the software for the PC owners on October 26th. The consumers can download the operating system to upgrade their PCs. Also, PC manufacturers will start selling their devices loaded with the Windows 8 from the same day.
Users of Windows Vista/7/XP can download the upgrade for $40. This is lesser than what Microsoft charged the consumers for the previous OS upgrades. Consumers who have bought Windows 7 computers on June 2 or later can get the devices upgraded to Windows 8 for a mere $15.
